1. Product overview
The brocade 6510 fabric switch is a 48-port high-performance enterprise-class switch that meets the various needs of highly virtualized private cloud storage environments with Gen 5 Fibre Channel (16 Gbps) technology. The brocade Brocade 6510 fabric switch offers high flexibility, ease of operation and reliability in a 1U design package.
2. Product Features
1. Flexible, easy-to-use enterprise-grade SAN switches for private cloud storage
To meet growing business demands, data centers are migrating to highly virtualized private cloud storage environments. This approach allows businesses to consolidate and simplify IT resources, thereby increasing business agility and reducing capital and operating expenses. But with virtualization comes a series of challenges. Data centers must adapt to the dynamic changes brought about by explosive data growth and virtualized workloads. To realize the full benefits of these cloud-based architectures, choosing the right network is key.
The brocade 6510 fabric switch delivers Gen 5 Fibre Channel (16 Gbps) technology and features to support highly virtualized environments to meet the needs of large-scale private cloud storage environments. Designed for high flexibility and reliability, the brocade 6510 fabric switch supports 24, 36 or 48 port configurations and supports speeds of 2, 4, 8, 10 or 16 Gbps in a 1U package.
The simplified deployment process and point-and-click user interface make the Brocade 6510 Fabric Switch even more powerful and easy to use. The brocade 6510 fabric switch helps to capture the benefits of storage area network (SAN) technology at a fraction of the cost, while providing pay-as-you-grow scalability to meet the needs of evolving storage environments.
2. Other main features include:
Offers a high price/performance ratio, combining flexibility, simplicity, and enterprise-class functionality in a 48-port switch for virtualized data center and private cloud architectures.
Quickly, easily, and cost-effectively expand from 24 to 48 ports with Port Expansion on Demand (PoD).
· Simplify deployment with the Brocade EZSwitchSetup wizard.
· Accelerate deployment and troubleshooting and reduce time with Dynamic Fabric Provisioning (DFP), key performance monitoring and diagnostic features.
· Improve availability with redundant, hot-swappable components and smooth software upgrades.
· Offers dual functionality as a functional Fabric SAN switch and as a Brocade Access Gateway with NPIV support, simplifying server connectivity and improving SAN scalability.
· Simplify and centralize management with Brocade Network Advisor, reducing operational costs and complexity.
3. High cost performance
The brocade 6510 fabric switch with Gen 5 Fibre Channel technology combines market throughput with an economical switch design to provide cost-effectiveness for growing SAN workloads. Brocade Brocade 6510 optical switch 48 ports can provide a total of 768 Gbps full-duplex throughput; any 8 ports can be bundled together to form a 128 Gbps Inter-Switch Link (ISL). Switch-based Dynamic Path Selection (DPS) optimizes the performance of the entire fabric and achieves load balancing by automatically routing data to idle paths within the fabric. It can further complement Brocade ISL link bonding to provide more efficient load balancing in certain configurations.
In addition, the 24-port base configuration is easy to manage, takes up only 1U of rack space and consumes very little power—0.14 watts per Gbps and 2.3 watts per port, resulting in a low total cost of ownership (TCO). Enterprise-class features combined with a very low TCO provide 40% higher performance than other 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) solutions at comparable cost.
